Germans from Russia Heritage Society

Founded in January 1971, the Germans from Russia Heritage Society (GRHS) is a non-profit organization, with headquarters in Bismarck, North Dakota. Its aims are educational and social, and its purpose is to bring together people who are interested in discovering the common history unique to Germanic-Russian ethnics and to preserve the many elements of their rich heritage.

The Society is headquartered in the heartland of the Germans Russians that settled in the northern plains, and it has become the leading research center for the Black Sea Germans from Russia in the United States and Canada. Their ancestors migrated in great numbers to the Dakota Territory beginning in 1873.

Germans from Russia Heritage Collection

Located at North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota, the mission of the Germans from Russia Heritage Collection is to collect, document, exhibit, preserve, publish, translate, promote and make accessible resources on history, folklore and culture of the Germans from Russia, particularly Bessarabian Germans, Black Sea Germans, Crimean Germans, and Volhynian Germans and their descendants in North Dakota and on the Northern Plains.

Glückstal Colonies Research Association (GCRA)

A non-profit organization researching family histories of the German colonists living in the Black-Sea colonies of Glckstal, Bergdorf, Kassel, Neudorf and their daughter colonies.

Kutschurgan Villages Research

Resources for people researching families from the Kutschurgan Catholic villages in the Black Sea region northwest of Odessa.

The Society for German Genealogy in Eastern Europe

A Volhynian Genealogy Group devoted to the study of those people with German ancestry (generally of the Lutheran, Baptist, or Catholic faiths) who moved east, out of the German states to Poland and Prussia.

Wandering Volhynians is a quarterly publication dedicated to serving the genealogical, historical and heritage interests of descendants of Germans who migrated to or through Congress Poland and Volhynia.
